ABOUT

People first, always. Formed in 2011, West 4th is a Durham-based residential urban infill company that believes in the future of Durham by building with care and preserving its architectural history with pride. From our early days of renovating vacant homes, to then moving into complex historic renovations, and now completing new build infill projects, we are proud to grow with Durham as we move into our next chapter of densifying the Urban-tier and supplying attainable and affordable homes. Preservation plus density is possible.  Urban-tier affordable and attainable housing is possible. Together, we will continue to preserve and build housing for all.

OUR APPROACH

The three D's of urban planning call for density, design, and diversity of housing types. At West 4th, our approach is focused on missing middle housing that promotes core expansion and the development and preservation of affordable and attainable housing across a diversity of housing types in Durham's Urban-tier. We strongly support Durham's push for a walkable 15-minute-city, and custom design each project and site to promote sensible growth, walkable neighborhoods, and respect for Durham's unique culture and pride.  #MissingMiddle

WHY WEST 4TH?

West 4th is co-owned by a Durham resident who personally oversees every project.  With a combined 30+ years in real estate, our experience and knowledge of the process helps to execute on the City's housing policy and by-right development as controlled by the Unified Development Ordinance.
